The legality of timber placed on the market is based on compliance with the texts of national laws and regulations and duly ratified international legal instruments whose application is necessary to guarantee the viability of forest management by the producing and/or exporting company, its suppliers and subcontractors, on behalf of the forest owner (the State, the commune, a private owner or a community).
